Double facade
Ricardo Martínez García
From a literary view Texas life in the fifties, expressed by the pen of Jim Thompson's novel of 1976 that the title of this tape, The Murderer in me (2010), customs and social conventions are seen as natural but they really are as a mere facade of some secret lives full of hypocrisy and falsehood, British director Michael Winterbottom (Genova , The Road to Guantanamo, Welcome to Sarajevo ) builds a violent film, hard without sentimental, absurd, as is the main character in this twisted story.
With a strong plot disrupted by a pathology rooted in a lifestyle characterized by physical and mental abuse, as shown in a special way the personality of the sheriff Lou Ford, beautifully played by Casey Affleck, "live on tape sexual violence and hatred of the female figure and the conformity of a life led by a strange sort of southern nihilism. The sheriff's case extrapolation to certain aspects of American society seems so likely, if you can see below the strong mask.
The tape shows the histrionic capacity of Jessica Alba and Kate Hudson, who play the role of scapegoats for their annihilation because it itself and are not able to come see this fate, for the sake of a supposed love, but love is only lost inside himself.
The scenery is great, and the proper handling of characters and situations. It's a movie suitable for teens but not recommended in its rawness and realism.
